Yesterday, 31st of october 2009, it took place the second edition of Kanji Tsushima cup in Braşov. Mister Kanji Tsushima is the former ambassador of Japan in Romania and is considered the father of Romanian kendo. He has 6 Dan in kendo and he did started the practice of this martial art here started to teach kendo in 1990.
The cup took place to Sportive High school in Braşov and started at 11:00 o'clock, the high school is located near the Schei Gate, in the old city of Braşov. The competition was organized by the club Kyobukan from Braşov and next clubs were a part of it: Ikada and The Romanian Kendo Club from Bucharest, Bushi Tokukai from Miercurea Ciuc, Kyobukan from Braşov, Ronin-Do Oradea, Budoshin Kendo and Isshin from Cluj-Napoca, Shugyosha from Brăila, Kenshin from Galaţi, Kaybukan Constanţa.
The competition had only the individual category and 3 sections: women, juniors and seniors. The final for seniors was between the 2 members of CRK (Romanian Kendo Club): Mahika Sorin şi Chirea Alin and it was won by Mahika Sorin.
Juniors: First place – Chirea Alin (CRK)
Second place – Chirea Valentin (CRK)
Third place – Illies Attila (Bushi Tokukai Miercurea Ciuc)
Women: First place – Vaia Betty (CRK)
Second place – Grapa Dana (Kyobukan Brasov)
Third place – Calina Cristina (CRK)
Seniors: First place – Mahika Sorin (CRK)
Second place – Chirea Alin (CRK)
Third place – Dutescu Mihai (Ikada Bucureşti)
Stupu Alexandru (Kaybukan Constanţa)
I participated for the kendo club from Oradea, together with my colleague Szabo Simon. After the competition we went to eat some pizza at a restaurant in the center of Braşov. It's name is Kowlun Pizza & Paste, it's on Diaconu Coresi street. The atmosphere was pleasant and the food was good. It's worth to visit again.
